On 17th May, a mission led by the General Director of the Swedish Agency for International Development (SIDA), Mrs. Charlotte Petri Gornitzka, paid a field visit to village Mereni, Anenii Noi at the demonstration plot established on the peasant farm Ion Rosca with the technical and financial support of the National Agency for Rural Development through its regional and local offices. The delegation was accompanied by the first secretary of the Swedish Embassy in Moldova, Mr. Patrik Stalgren and CAPMU Director, Mr. Liviu Gumovschi.
During the visit, Mr. Charlotte Petri Gornitzka held discussions with the farmer Ion Rosca and his wife Lidia who manage vegetable production business on some 1400 de m2 protected field and 2 ha of open field.
The peasant farm Ion Rosca is specialized in season and off-season vegetable production benefiting by advisory services delivered by ACSA regional and local offices since 2002. Application of the advisor’s recommendations and suggestions combined with the work realized by the family members and continuous investment in production process, have contributed to increased productivity and vegetation period as well as to reduced costs and adverse impact on environment.
All delegation members were informed about the services provided by the rural extension network such as consultations in technological and marketing issues, establishment of demonstration plots and training agricultural producers and rural entrepreneurs. Mrs. Charlotte Petri Gornitzka and other delegation members manifested high interest in developing rural businesses of family type with modern technologies applied in crop production.
